Dec. 14, 2001 – Milpitas, CA – Elantec Semiconductor Inc. has signed an agreement that establishes Philips Semiconductors’ Albuquerque, NM, site as the primary bipolar foundry for Elantec’s future bipolar wafer process requirements.
Elantec, which makes analog ICs, said it will continue to make existing bipolar product lines at its wafer-fabrication facility in Milpitas, and will continue to use its other existing bipolar foundries, reported Dow Jones.
The Philips Electronics NV unit has developed bipolar processes that will enable Elantec to continue to expand in several product areas. These areas include its line of operation amplifiers that are targeted at markets such as video, communications, and optical storage, as well as other analog products.
