Nov. 20, 2001 – Munich, Germany and Tokyo, Japan – Infineon and Toshiba have failed to reach a deal in terms of establishing a joint venture.
The Financial Times reported that the cause of the failure is due to Toshiba’s refusal to merge its flash memory production line into the joint venture.
It was initially planned that Infineon and Toshiba would announce their cooperative program by the end of October. However, the failure of the cooperative made Infineon seek cooperation with manufacturers in Taiwan, according to Financial Times.
