Semi Industry on Target for Continued Growth

San Jose, California–Oct. 6, 2000–The semiconductor industry is on target to experience a continued healthy growth rate, according to Dataquest Inc., a unit of Gartner Group, Inc., as semiconductor technologies become even more prevalent in next-generation hardware and software platforms.

“Recent stories about Intel’s earnings announcement have put a lot of misconceptions out into the market about the semiconductor industry,” says Joe Grenier, vice president for Gartner Dataquest’s worldwide semiconductor group. “Overall the semiconductor industry is having a great year, and during Semiconductors 2000 we’ll explore growth opportunities in the market, with an emphasis on the hot and emerging semiconductor applications.”

Dataquest plans to announce a detailed analysis on the future of the semiconductor industry during Gartner Dataquest’s upcoming Semiconductors 2000 conference, Oct. 30-31, at the Hyatt Regency LaJolla at Aventine, in San Diego.
