Vendors aim for 10Gbps standards

October 10, 2003 – Five IC companies are joining together to promote a common physical-layer standard for next-generation 10Gbps systems.

The Unified 10Gbps Physical-Layer Initiative (UXPi), formed by AMCC, IBM, Infineon, Texas Instruments, and Xilinx, aims to address challenges of attenuation and signal interference with 10Gbps digital signaling in the RF domain.

UXPi will work in conjunction with efforts by other groups such as the Optical Internetworking forum, the companies said.
