K&S sheds blades business

August 4, 2003 – Kulicke & Soffa, Willow Grove, PA, has agreed to sell its sawing equipment and hard material blades operations in Israel to unnamed third parties.

The deal, subject to approval by K&S directors and the Israeli government, includes fixed assets, inventories, and intellectual property for the company’s sawing equipment business in Haifa, and the Micro-Swiss hard material blades business in Yokneam.

The company says its Semitec dicing blades business in Santa Clara, CA, is not for sale. The sawing and blades businesses represent approximately 2% of the company’s revenue.
