October 23, 2003 – Motorola’s Semiconductor Products Sector has unveiled a new chip architecture for mobile devices, aiming to simplify design of mobile systems by reducing costs, complexity and component count, size, and power consumption.
The Mobile Extreme Convergence architecture incorporates a shared memory system for call processing and application processing, acceleration and memory caching techniques, and security technology, resulting in a 16mm x 20mm x 1.4mm “smart phone” platform.
Chips utilizing the MXC architecture are expected to ship in 2H04.
