Taiwan chip output to hit $30 billion in ’04

Taiwan’s semiconductor production value is predicted to hit $29.4 billion in 2004, nearly 25% higher than 2003 expectations, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Bureau.

Production value was at $16.7 billion for the first nine months of 2003, and is projected to be $23.5 billion for the year, a 22% increase from 2002. The IC segment of the domestic chip industry is seeing 30% growth year-on-year.
