December 10, 2003 – South Korea plans to export $57.5 billion of information technology products in 2003, up from earlier estimates of $55 billion, according to the Ministry of Information and Communication and Dow Jones.
Overall IT exports in November were $5.74 billion, up 25% from a year ago but down sequentially; of that figure, $2.04 billion was for semiconductors and chipmaking equipment, also up 25% from a year ago. $3.04 billion in tech goods went to other Asian countries, including China, with the US second at $1.23 billion.
Overall IT exports in December are expected to come in at $5 billion, with increased shipments of semiconductors and mobile handsets to other Asian countries.
