Aug. 8, 2002 – Oak Ridge, TN – Electronics contract manufacturer Flextronics will cut 527 jobs in Sweden from its current staff of almost 9,000, mainly due to weakness in the telecommunications industry, Swedish news reported.
Most of the job losses would be at the Karlskrona unit, which concentrates on telecom equipment.
“We are seeing that development in telecom is not as good as we had been hoping for. It is continuing to be very, very bad,” Lars Pettersson, head of Flextronics’ Karlskrona plant told the news station.
Pettersson said clients were still struggling with order intake, Reuters reported.
