August 18, 2004 – Taiwanese foundry United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) has made available its 0.18-micron embedded high-voltage technology process, used with portable LCD products to power transistors for applications such as cell phone displays.
The process can supply voltages required for gate and source drivers, controllers, and ultradense SRAM cells; an additional nonvolatile memory feature can be added to the process with an additional mask step.
UMC expects pilot production of 0.18-micron, 32V technology to begin by the end of the year.
