Foundries post more record revenues in June

July 8, 2004 – Another month, another high-water mark for Taiwan’s top two foundries.

TSMC posted yet another record month of revenues in June: $668 million, up roughly 4% from May and 26% from a year ago. Second-quarter revenues rose 13% from 1Q, and 47% from 2Q03. For the first six months of the year, TSMC posted revenue of $3.62 billion, up from $2.64 billion in the same period a year ago.

UMC, meanwhile, said revenues in June rose to $306 million, up from $287 million in May and $209 million a year ago and its best performance since November 2000. Second-quarter revenue was $865 million, a 15% gain from the first quarter and 34% from 2Q03. For 1H04, UMC reported $1.61 billion in revenues, up 38% from the same period year ago.
