May 24, 2007 – Fuji Electric Holdings Co. is nearly set to start construction this year on a new chip plant in Malaysia, which will boost the company’s production capacity of the devices by 10% when it comes online in fiscal 1H08, according to the daily Nikkei paper.
The 20 billion yen (US $164.6 million) facility will produce devices for use in industrial machines such as factory robots, as well as power generation and transmission equipment, the paper noted. Eventual output capacity for the site will be about 15,000 wafers/month (150mm equivalent) by the end of FY08.
