Praxair to supply gases for SMIC’s Fab 8

January 19, 2007 – Praxair Inc. says its China unit has been tabbed to supply industrial gases, including ultrahigh-purity nitrogen, oxygen, argon, hydrogen, and helium, to Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp.’s (SMIC) Fab 8 300mm/90nm facility in Shanghai, where significant expansions are expected to come online later this year.

Praxair China also will build and operate purification and gas-monitoring systems on the SMIC site, and upgrade existing facility and pipelines in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park.

The company has been working with SMIC since 2000, and currently supplies SMIC’s existing fabs in Shanghai and its 300mm/90nm fab in Beijing.
