DFM firm Ponte nabs more funding, adds execs

April 26, 2007 – Ponte Solutions says it has raised $7.5 million in Series B funding from Mayfield Fund and US Venture Partners as well as private investors, bringing its total VC backing to about $17 million. Proceeds will be used to “strengthen our leadership in critical area analysis and expand our offerings to address other important facets of the DFM market,” according to president/CEO Alex Alexanian.

Ponte also has appointed Michael Smayling, former CTO of Applied Materials’ Maydan Technology Center and TI Fellow, to its technical advisory board, and hired Michael Buehler-Garcia as VP of marketing and business development, after stints as a consultant (Alanza Technologies) and exec positions at iRoC Technologies, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, PDF Solutions, and Cadence Design Systems.
