Is India finally about to join the club of fab-ed nations, with news that Infineon is partnering with a local group to build at least two fabs in Hyerdabad? Many analysts don’t believe it, citing infrastructure issues as a primary obstacle. TI has said no to a fab in India, and Intel recently turned to China for its new 90nm logic fab. But I’d argue that India may be today where China was just 10 years ago, and a similarly motivated Indian government could make fabs a reality in a year or two.
