March 12, 2012 — The Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), global semiconductor industry association, appointed Ajit Manocha, CEO of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, to its board of directors.
GSA’s board is comprised of industry executives who are representative of the global regions in which GSA holds active memberships. In his new position, Manocha will represent one of the foundry director positions.
“I am honored to serve on GSA’s Board of Directors,” said Manocha. “It is my privilege to represent the foundry segment and to further GSA’s mission to promote collaboration throughout the semiconductor ecosystem.”
In 2011, Manocha was appointed chief executive officer of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, the world’s first full-service semiconductor foundry with a truly global footprint. Manocha has strong executive experience in the semiconductor industry, most recently as executive vice president of worldwide operations and a member of the executive management board at Spansion. In that role, Manocha managed global integrated circuit manufacturing, supply chain management and purchasing for its semiconductor division. Manocha also served as an advisor to the Advanced Technology Investment Corporation (ATIC), GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ majority investor.
Earlier Manocha was executive vice president and chief manufacturing officer at NXP Semiconductors (formerly Philips Semiconductors). Manocha has also worked at AT&T Microelectronics and AT&T Bell Laboratories.
“We are pleased to have GLOBALFOUNDRIES represented on our Board and look forward to the insight Ajit Manocha’s participation will provide,” said Jodi Shelton, co-founder and president of GSA. “His leadership and expertise in representing the foundry industry ensures that we have a board that reflects the composition of the complete global supply chain. His experience will help guide us to address the challenges within the supply chain.”
