Consumer Strong, Military Slow in New Year

(March 7, 2007) BEIJING and SAN JOSE, CA &#151 Global semiconductor sales rose 9.2% in January, due in large part to strong consumer sectors &#151 cell phones, personal computers, digital cameras, and music players. The year-to-year increase brought chip sales to $21.47B, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), although global sales dipped 1.2% from December 2006.
