(August 7, 2006) MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA — Actel Corporation announced that a third-party investigation found its flash-based field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) immune to configuration upsets caused by high-energy neutrons naturally generated in the earth’s atmosphere. Neutron-induced configuration upsets pose quality and reliability issues, said Ken O’Neill, director of military and aerospace product marketing, Actel. He added that this immunity to functionality changes brought on by atmospheric neutrons is inherent to the devices.
