(August 10, 2006) Nashua, NH — Robert Haavind, editorial director for Solid State Technology Magazine, received a national gold award from the American Society of Business Press Editors (ASBPE) at the ASBPE Special Awards Banquet on July 20, 2006. Haavind’s editorials in the September 2005 and November 2005 issues of Solid State Technology — titled “Educating innovators” and “The future of energy” — were chosen as the best editorials for all business-to-business (B2B) magazines with a circulation under 80,000.
“We are extremely proud and honored to count Bob Haavind as one of our valued team members,” says Solid State Technology and Advanced Packaging publisher David Barach. “What impresses me most is Bob’s undying passion for semiconductor technology as well as its impact on the world’s future and on our youth. Bob’s expertise is evident in everything he contributes to our publication and the industry as a whole. This national ‘best-in-class’ award is very well-deserved.”
Haavind’s publishing career spans more than 40 years, with publications including Electronic Design, Computer Design, Computer Decisions, and High Technology. He also was a researcher and writer for MIT’s Commission on Industrial Productivity, which published Made in America.
“The editorial staff of SST is tremendously fortunate to be able to tap into Bob’s vast knowledge of technology and his many years of experience in business publishing,” says Phil LoPiccolo, Solid State Technology editor-in-chief. “SST will celebrate its 50th year of publishing next year, and we firmly believe its success in the business-to-business arena is due in large part to Bob’s dedication to his craft and our industry.”
