Imagers beating out traditional laser scanners, research shows

(July 20, 2004) Natick, Mass.&#8212A new report released by the Venture Development Corporation, an independent technology market research firm, estimates that the global market for hand-held bar code scanners will reach nearly $974 million by the end of 2008. Although the overall hand-held scanner market is forecast to grow at 8 percent compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the next four years, linear imagers are expected to grow at 11 percent CAGR and 2D imagers are projected to grow at 20.8 percent CAGR, according to the research.

(July 14, 2004) San Francisco, Calif.&#8212Silicon Border Development, a global developer of industrial parks catering to the high-tech industry, signed an exclusivity agreement with the State of Baja California, Mexico, to create a specialized industrial park called “Silicon Border” that will establish an alternative for cost-effective and centralized semiconductor operations in North America.
