March 15, 2002 – Rio Rancho, NM – Intel Corp. has completed its $2 billion expansion to Fab 11X. The fab will produce 300 mm wafers and will employ 0.13 micron design rules.
Intel has hired some 600 additional employees to work in the new fab, which has 200,000 square feet of new cleanroom space, almost twice what it had originally planned for, according to a report in the Albuquerque Journal.
The new fab is expected to be running at full production by the second half of 2002.
