April 10, 2002 — NORTHBROOK, IL and NEW YORK, NY — Motorola Life Sciences (a business unit of Motorola, Inc.) and researchers at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine achieved promising initial results from their joint project, which uses Motorola’s CodeLink bioarray platform for gene expression analysis.
"The bioarray system developed by Motorola provides us with a powerful platform which enables the monitoring of thousands of genes simultaneously. We hope this will yield new insights into the diagnosis and treatment of liver disease," notes Dr. Jose Walewski, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine for Mount Sinai.
The results of the joint research project are being presented this week, at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research San Francisco. The study is named, "Characterization of Hepatocellular Carcinoma and Surrounding Non-tumorous Liver with Motorola Life Sciences CodeLink Bioarray System."
Motorola Life Sciences builds CodeLink biochips at its fab in Tempe, AZ. The chips are manufactured in an ISO Class 5 cleanroom.
