With the recent E. coli outbreak in Northeast Ohio, Empyrean Bioscience provided the Lorain County Fair Board with an ample supply of Preventx(R) hand sanitizer and first-aid antiseptic for the August event.
The alcohol-free product is said to be 99.9% effective in killing E. coli and other bacteria on contact, was available to this year’s visitors at many locations throughout the fairgrounds.
Empyrean Bioscience, a Cleveland-based company that specializes in personal care products designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, provided the sanitizer to the fair board to ease the minds of visitors and help protect against the spread of the E. coli bacteria and any other disease-causing germs.
“We were aware that local fairgrounds were looking for ways to help ease the public’s mind about the recent E. coli outbreaks and prevent any further occurrence of the bacteria,” says Bennett S. Rubin, Empyrean Bioscience executive vice president and chief operating officer. “Because we specialize in products that help to prevent the spread of disease-causing germs, we got involved.”
Some 90-food vendors at the fairgrounds have been equipped with pump dispenser bottles of the Preventx Hand Sanitizer and First-Aid Antiseptic. Preventx dispensers have also been placed in close proximity to restrooms and animal petting areas.
“In addition to offering visitors Preventx hand sanitizer throughout the fairgrounds, we’re posting signs in conjunction with the Lorain County General Health District to remind fairgoers of the importance of hand washing to prevent the spread of germs,” says Bernie Nirode, secretary of the Lorain County Fair Board.?Mark A.
