Berkshire to Open New N.C. Facility

October 12, 2001 — WHITSETT, NC — Berkshire Corporation plans to open a new manufacturing facility at the Rock Creek Industrial Park later this fall.

“The new facility will significantly expand our capabilities in research and quality assurance, as well as increasing our cleanroom laundry, distribution and warehouse capacities,” said George Dappert, CFO of Berkshire.

The company, which supplies disposable products for the critical environments market, plans to move operations from its North Carolina and Massachusetts work centers to the new facility by the middle of November. Operations are expected to begin by the end of December.

The new facility is 64,000 square feet and features 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space, a testing and R&D lab, and warehouse. In addition, it will house glove manufacturing, sealing operations, a cleanroom laundry and a saturation processing center for its cleanroom-laundered wipers.

According to Dappert, the facility will allow the company to triple the number of its workers in North Carolina.
