Sony Hits Zero Emissions Mark At Six Chip Plants

April 12, 2001 — TOKYO — Sony Corp. has achieved zero emissions for waste from six of its chip making plants.

According to published reports, the company hit the target at its semiconductor manufacturing plants by increasing the recycling of waste hydrofluoric acid solution, a large majority of which is currently being reused to produce cement..

Sony is planning to cut watse output by 30 percent at all of its plants on a revenue basis by FY2005.
