Super Tool Looks to Double Crane Production

July 10, 2001 — TOKYO — Super Tool Co. plans to spend nearly $798,000, or 100 million yen, to expand assembly facilities at Osaka Prefecture plant as it looks to increase production of its cleanroom cranes, according to published reports.

Super Tool makes special dust-free jib cranes that are used in cleanrooms. The cranes move products and materials, and also are used for retooling production machinery.

According to the Nikkei English News Service, the expansion will double the production capacity of the company. The company reportedly wants to increase the percentage of overall revenues from 6 percent to 11 percent.

Super Tool has historically targeted semiconductor and LCD makers, but is now eyeing the food companies as food safety issues continue to gain attention.
