June 25, 2001 — LYNEBROOK, NY — June 25, 2001 — LYNEBROOK, NY — BioSpecifics Technologies Corp. recently put the finishing touches on its advanced biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility, which includes a modularized cleanroom section that houses 18 different rooms.
The company has also begun first stage production at the 15,000 square foot plant, which was designed to produce Collagenase ABC, an active ingredient in the drug Collagenase Santyl Ointment.
According to company officials, the microenvironment is controlled by computerized air filtration systems, for controlling microbial and non-viable particulates. Equipment that has been recently installed in the facility includes a ne purified water system and an enhanced freeze-drying system.
BioSpecifics has begun the first shakedown runs and expects to begin full-scale production in stages.
