September 11, 2001 — SOMERSET, NJ — Optical communication parts-maker NanoOpto is planning to build a new manufacturing facility in Franklin Township, New Jersey.
The facility, located at the company’s 36,000 square foot facility, will include cleanrooms, laboratories and offices. The company will use the plant to manufacture sub-wavelength optical sub-components that will be used for Optical Transport Systems, which allow voice, data and video calls to be broadcast in high volumes over long distances.
NanoOpto CEO Barry Weinbaum said the Franklin Township location is “very suitable for high-tech startups due to the availability of a large population of highly qualified technical personnel in the area.”
Officials say construction on the new facility will begin within the next month.
