ATLANTA, Ga.-Celliance, the third operating division of Serologicals Corp. (www.serologicals.com), has been formed to focus on providing recombinant human insulin to biopharmaceutical manufacturers. The new division features a self-contained Class 7 cleanroom that has been built specifically for the critical insulin packaging process.

Featuring strict temperature and humidity control, the cleanroom has been built to allow insulin to be stored-from delivery to post repack-in a single isolated area. The company says the process flow guarantees isolation from other products, preventing the possibility of contamination during repackaging.

Recombinant insulin, used to treat diabetes, is purified from bacteria, which is considered a safer and purer source than material purified from a human or animal pancreas.
