ESD packaging material
BFGoodrich Co., together with Mitech Corp., has developed a new cost-effective and clean ESD material for the thermoformed trays used by electronic component manufacturers to protect their products. Acristat M-809 is an acrylic-based resin compounded by Mitech and blended with Stat-Rite C2300, an inherently static-dissipative polymer from BFGoodrich`s Estane Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) Division. The Stat-Rite polymer has a surface resistivity of 1.1 ¥ 109 oms/sq. and a volume resistivity of 1.1 ¥ 1010 chms/cm., before and after reprocessing. The packaging material protects sensitive products, will not bring contaminants into the cleanroom environment, and can be reused many times without re-dipping trays in staticide. Extruded sheets are from 0.12 to 0.30 in. thick in widths of 13.5 to 48 in. Mitech also provides pellet compound for non-sheet applications, such as the custom tube profiles used to ship computer chips.
