UK cleanroom technology guidelines available for the food industry
Gloucestershire, UK–Guidelines to assist the food processing industry in designing, selecting, installing and operating air handling systems are now available from Campden and Chorleywood Food Research Association in England. The association in collaboration with representatives of the Chilled Food Association, the British Standards Institute, the food industry, the air handling industry and consultants on air handling have produced the guidelines for the food industry.
The guidelines provide information on the role of air systems in maintaining and achieving microbiological standards in food products. The document provides information on air handling systems, filtration types, system concepts, construction, maintenance sanitation, testing, commissioning, validation and system monitoring. There are sections which cover environmental and process air, dust and humidity control as well as control of Legionella. The guidelines are not intended to be construction specifications for any item of equipment installed as part of an air handling system.
