Aluminum floor panels
Seidelhuber Metal Products, Inc. has designed, built and tested an all-aluminum access floor panel made entirely of extrusions. The panels are 24-in.2, +0.00/-0.009 before finishes, flat and square with 56 percent clear openings in grated areas. Corners are mitered and locked with a corner gusset. The grating panel has an ultimate concentrated load capacity in excess of 6,360 lbs. and an uniform load capacity of 13,600 lbs. per foot width. Rolling tests were performed in Seidelhuber`s lab using both the 3.5-in. wheel ¥ 1-13/16-in. and the 6-in. wheel ¥ 1.5-in. The smaller wheel was rolled across the centerline of the panel, the weakest point, 1,200 evolutions before the wheel failed. The larger wheel was also applied at center line for 2,000 evolutions with no set or evident affect, according to the company. Cleanrooms can use the panels in new construction and replace existing panels in aisles where heavier loads occur. The next-generation panels will be exact look-alike panels but rated at 1,000 lbs. for areas that do not require protection.
