Air velocity measurement

Air velocity measurement

Cambridge AccuSense, Inc. has introduced its Face Velocity Analyzer (FVA), a multipoint airflow measurement tool that facilitates analysis and evaluation of planar velocity distribution. The FVA Series allows fume hood and cleanroom designers and certifiers to obtain quick, real-time “snapshots” of their airflow environment, according to the company.

The complete package consists of the FVA unit, multiple AFS Series airflow sensors and proprietary Windows-based software, which is available in 12- and 24-channel versions.

At the design stage, FVA users can perform on-line adjustments, conduct “What-if” analyses and observe in real time the effects of changes in the flow field. FVA expedites safety and performance certification procedures, prompting the tester through the certification process, and automatically generates a report that compares measurements against several sets of U.S. and international standards, including ANSI/AIHA, ASHRAE, BSI and DIN. The software also has complete 3-D graphing and smoothing capabilities that let operators execute and verify modifications until the desired velocity profile is reached.
