Fisher Container Corp.`s Precision Clean Division has developed an autoclavable breather pouch suitable for steam sterilizing items. Packaging stoppers, vials, ampoules, medical instruments, etc., can all be sterilized by ethylene oxide or gamma radiation. Manufactured in a Class 10 cleanroom, they are made of Tyvek on 50 percent of the surface side and HD 3-mil. clear film on the other. The Tyvek side allows steam to circulate freely during autoclaving and dissipate quickly at the completion of the sterilization cycle, while the translucent film allows visual identification of the object. Precision Breather Bags are designed to withstand sustained heat at 123C and heat spikes of 126C. The 1/8-in seal is hermetic and has a strength of approximately 4.5 lbs. per inch.
