RO System

RO System

Osmonics, Inc. has developed and engineered a new, two-pass reverse osmosis (RO) system that meets proposed U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) Chapter 23 Purified Water specifications. The new specifications will replace the older Chapter XXII Purified Water qualitative procedures with fewer, more quantitative procedures that measure specific conductance and total organic carbon (TOC). The two-pass RO system offers the pharmaceutical industry a multi-barrier defense against contamination of purified water used for manufacturing purposes. Osmonics` new system includes high rejection sepralators (membrane elements especially designed for pharmaceutical purposes) in both passes, operating on softened water that has been filtered through a dual-media, backwashable filter. The new system has been proven to remove 99.9 percent of most ionic contaminants found in typical water supplies and 99.9 percent of organic compounds greater than 150 molecular weight.
