Pharmaceutical Filter

San-I-Air Co., a division of Hale Engineering Co. and Halco Products, has developed the “Sani-Fiber” filter for use in the pharmaceutical industry to inhibit the propagation of bacteria. The filter is made by pleating a borosilicate microglass paper into a continuous pleat made with “San-I-Air Fiber,” a special fiber that contains a complex ceramic “zeomic,” an anti-bacterial agent already used in the manufacture of plastic dinnerware and refrigerators. The anti-bacterial agent is effective against a wide range of bacteria and fungi, is not affected by exposure to sunlight, heat or humidity, nor altered by acids or organic solvents such as alcohol, ether, benzene or acetone. “Sani-Fiber” feels like natural cotton and can also be dyed. It does not lose its anti-bacterial effect when blended with cotton, wool or other natural fibers.
