Laser particle counter

Laser particle counter

Malvern Instruments has designed the MILPA laser particle counter, which uses a novel laser diffraction principle to detect submicron particles as small as 0.1 &#181m in liquids at 50 ml/min. The MILPA can be used for monitoring water and chemical cleanliness for highly sensitive applications in such industries as the pharmaceutical and microelectronics. It gives results that closely parallel conventional laser light-scattering instruments, but with greater sensitivity to bacteria and silica particles, which are very difficult to detect by currently used methods. The counter is available either as a lightweight, portable unit weighing 5 kg or as a multi-sensor, installed monitoring system capable of simultaneous measurement of up to six grapefruit-size sensors featuring a continuous display of particle levels on a panel-mounted LCD display. Its portability and the miniaturization of sensor heads makes it ideal for use at multi-point sampling sites around process plants.
