APRIL 21–TOKYO, Japan–Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu VLSI Limited have developed a spread-spectrum clock generator (SSCG) system chip that achieves the world’s lowest power requirement and electromagnetic interference (EMI) levels.
The new design is being released as the MB88150 Series, with four models available in sample quantities starting today.
The new series uses digital control to generate the oscillator clock’s modulation wave. By more accurately controlling clock frequency modulation, the new design enables a record 19 dB (1/80 power ratio) reduction in EMI noise. Moreover, adoption of CMOS process makes possible power consumption of just 18.2 mW (milliwatts.
This new low-noise design eliminates the need for the additional EMI noise-reduction components used in conventional clock generators. Reduced parts-count will help make possible lower costs and smaller sizes for
photocopiers, printers, etc.
