Wilden opens Czech plant

AUG. 13–Dysina, Czech Republic–German injection molder Wilden has opened a production plant here.

The plant will make transparent plastic covers for automotive light manufacturer Hella, which had previously produced all its plastic covers in house. This is the first time that Wilden has produced surface-treated parts under cleanroom conditions on such a large scale.

Optical polycarbonate covers measuring 600 x 150 x 250mm will be manufactured in Dysina. They will be used by all major European automobile manufacturers. Three injection molding machines with a mold clamping capacity of 800 to 1,000 tons will be installed for large-scale serial production. Further expansion is expected in the future.

The production of plastic covers is done in two stages. First the parts are injection molded in a cleanroom and the extracted through an automated hexaxial articulated arm robot. In the second stage the parts are polished using lacquer to provide scratch, insolation and embrittlement resistance.
