Surface air flow sensor sensitive, flexible

SEPT. 25–EAST HANOVER, N.J. –Sensor Products Inc. has unveiled its Tactilus Surface Air Flow Sensor, which contains a one-dimensional array of 16 pressure sensing elements, making it ideal for such tasks as evaluating flow control around cleanroom door seals.

The sensor’s capacitance-based design provides extreme sensitivity–down to a single drop of water–for both positive and negative pressures.

The thin construction allows significant flexing; mounting to curved surfaces, such as the leading edge of an airfoil, is easy. Multiple strips can be connected to the same interface, allowing hundreds of data points to be collected simultaneously. All Tactilus Air Flow systems are factory calibrated for high accuracy.

The TAF-1000 features a Tactilus pressure sensor mounted on a rigid rectangular plate. This product is ideal for pressure measurement applications involving a flat surface. Such high-sensitivity pressure data is valuable for many applications in aerodynamics, flow control, and fluid mechanics.

The TAF-2000 features a flexible Tactilus pressure sensor. This product is ideal for pressure measurement applications involving curved surfaces such as airfoils and pipes. The TAF-2000 finds many applications in aerodynamics, flow control, and fluid mechanics. Examples include wind tunnel testing and leak detection.
