Fire-safe cabinets feature self-closing and self-latching doors

A new cabinet from Kewaunee Scientific Corp. is available with doors that self-close and self-latch. The self-closing doors are synchronized so that both doors close fully. The right-hand door automatically latches when the door closes, thanks to its three-point latching system. Each door can be latched open with a fusible link, but in case of fire, the link melts at 165 degrees F so the door will automatically close, protecting the contents from igniting. The cabinet comes with a 2-in. deep liquid-tight pan at the bottom, an adjustable perforated shelf, dual-flame arrestor vents, and a grounding screw.

The cabinets are available with full-length doors for use under countertops and 3/4-height doors for use under fume hoods and other apparatus.
