Oxoid completes presumptive identification of Legionella

Ogdensburg, NY

The Oxide Legionella Selective Supplement (SR175), when combined with Oxoid Legionella BCYE Agar Base (CM655), can be used in the presumptive identification of Legionella spp. To identify Legionella, microbiologists subculture suspect legionellae growing on GVPC agar onto two BCYE media: one that contains L-cysteine, and one that does not. If colonies grow on the BCYE medium without L-cysteine, they are considered presumptive positive Legionella. – KS
