300 mm R&D line complete

The first phase of a 300 mm Research and Development line, which includes a full set of equipment that converts 300 mm diameter silicon crystals into 775-micron thick wafers with ultra flat, mirror-polished surfaces, is now complete, according to MEMC Electronic Materials Inc., the company that developed the line. The line provides state of the art facilities to enable process and product development by MEMC technologists. This milestone marks the first part of a larger project that includes new crystal growing and cleaning equipment. — KS
