Cleanroom construction workshop at the Del E. Webb School of Construction

Phoenix, AZ — The Alliance for Construction Excellence (ACE), in conjunction with the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University (ASU) is holding a week-long workshop on cleanroom construction from March 17-21. ACE is an ASU outreach organization of the Del E. Webb School of Construction comprised of owners, engineers, contractors and subcontractors. ACE members commit resources to various task forces to develop new ideas, sponsor research, and create focused and relevant educational training tools.

Participating faculty include professionals from Motorola, Air Products, Ionics Pure Solutions, Jacobs Engineering, Acorn Engineering & Consulting, Performance Contracting, J.B. Rodgers and McCarthy. As part of the program, participants visit an operating semiconductor plant. Attendees are provided with the information and technical expertise to enable them to prepare a design/build proposal for the construction of a hypothetical research fab.

Topics covered include: microcontamination management, cleanroom protocol, structure and vibration, gas & distributed chemical systems, cleanroom components, environmental systems, mechanical systems, electrical systems, cost estimating, scheduling, construction management and certification. A semester course is also available through the school. The graduate course covers the same information in much greater depth.
