Computers for cleanroom applications
Deeco Systems is releasing a compact Pentium-based computer workstation, called SealTouch, which is completely sealed from the environment. Available with the computer is an infrared touch screen system that uses an array of IR-emitting diodes and photo receptors to provide touch accuracy. Mouse drivers let the user control the mouse and on-screen keys when they are wearing gloves.
The SealTouch computers are available with electroluminescent (EL) or active matrix (AM) TFT LCD displays. The 10.4-in. EL display provides a bright display and can be used in high temperature areas, while the 14-in. AM TFT LCD provides full-color displays. All the SealTouch computers are available with a choice of Pentium processors from 100 to 166 MHz, and can be configured with options such as EDO DRAM memory up to 64 Mbytes, 1 Gbyte-plus Fast-ATA or ultra-wide SCSI hard drives, floppy disk drive, solid- state disk drive, and Ethernet options. The computer is packed in a small, rugged cast aluminum enclosure to efficiently transfer heat away from the system.
