Tegal sells etch system to storage firm

Feb. 10, 2005 — Tegal Corp. (Nasdaq: TGAL) announced that a leading hard disk drive manufacturer has placed a follow-on order for a its 980ACS series etch system. Tegal said the customer will use the system for high-volume fabrication of storage devices destined for mainstream consumer and industrial applications.

The order included a new tool and two ACS upgrades to existing 980 production tools and it is part of an overall plan to add production capacity and enhance factory automation support while maintaining compatibility with existing production processes.

The Tegal 980ACS is the latest in a series of plasma etch systems produced by Tegal, which has shipped over 1,500 of the systems to date.
