MetaMateria gets $750K to make military nanomaterials

June 9, 2004 – NanoDynamics Inc.’s subsidiary MetaMateria Partners LLC  received a $750,000 federal grant to make transparent nanomaterials for military applications.

The Small Business Innovative Research Phase II award from the U.S. Navy will be used to develop an optical material for next-generation infrared sensors on missiles and aircraft.

MetaMateria will develop transparent, nanoscale ceramic particles that are expected to produce stronger materials with improved optical, mechanical and electrical properties, according to a news release.
