Feb. 25, 2004 — DuPont (NYSE: DD, News, Web) is working with two startups developing nanotech-enabled solar cells.
DuPont Central Research & Development is jointly researching the use of thin-film technology developed by Palo Alto, Calif.-based Nanosys Inc. (Profile, News, Web) for applications in electronics. The DuPont group will explore ways to incorporate the technology into specific products, according to a Nanosys news release.
DuPont Electronic and Communication Technologies has licensed intellectual property to Lowell, Mass.-based Konarka Technologies (Profile, News, Web) related to hybrid photovoltaic cells. The deal gives Konarka the advantage of mass-producing higher efficiency, environmentally friendly cells at lower costs, the company said in a news release.
Ardesta LLC, the parent company of Small Times Media, is a Konarka investor.
