Sept. 29, 2003 — Sensicore Inc., an Ann Arbor, Mich., developer of a lab-on-a-chip device for water testing and monitoring, announced that it completed an $11 million Series B round of financing, adding $4.5 million from Technology Partners. In July, the company announced a $6.5 million initial closing. The company had been seeking a $10 million round.
Sensicore has developed a silicon-based chip that can analyze the chlorine, hardness, alkalinity and other aspects of water, in addition to trace detection of heavy metals like arsenic and lead. The device is intended for industrial monitoring and home use. Ira Ehrenpreis, a partner at Technology Partners, joined the Sensicore board.
