July 9, 2003 — A MEMS-based tool for internal biomedical imaging took top honors in Micralyne Inc.’s annual Microsystems Design Award, according to a news release.
The $3,000 award was presented to John (Tze-Wei) Yeow, an engineering Ph.D. student at the University of Toronto, who submitted the Endoscopic Coherent Optical Microscope. The project is a joint effort of the university and Princess Margaret Hospital/St. Michael’s Hospital.
The Edmonton, Alberta-based MEMS manufacturer gives the award to a university researcher or post-graduate student who demonstrates the most novel and industrially relevant research results in microsystems, the release said.
